How to Register for WSOP Events in 2025
To play in any event at the 2025 World Series of Poker, you’ll need to register through the WSOP+ app – this is required for all participants.
The app replaces the old Bravo Poker Live system and is meant to simplify the process, letting players skip the cage lines and get seat info directly on their phones.
Step-by-Step WSOP Online Registration Process:
1. Download the WSOP+ app
You can get it from wsopplus.com or your device’s app store. It’s available for both iOS and Android.
2. Create your WSOP+ account
You’ll also need a Caesars Rewards account, since it links with your registration.
3. Complete in-person ID verification
Even if you register online, you must verify your identity once at the Champagne Ballroom inside Paris Las Vegas before your first event.
4. Register for your events
Use the app to pick your events and pay. You can choose digital or printed tickets – both work.
Payment Options for WSOP Entry:
- Credit/Debit Cards (3% fee applies)
- ACH Transfers (U.S. only)
- PayPal
- Luxon Pay (non-U.S. players)
- Paris Tournament Account (fund in person at the main cage)
- WSOP.com Satellite Tickets (for online qualifiers)
You can also pay in person at the cage using cash, casino chips, cashier’s checks (if pre-approved), or wire transfers (minimum $100,000 and pre-approval needed).
Make sure your photo ID is valid and unexpired, and be aware that you must be 21 or older to play. If you register but don’t show up before the first level after the first break, your chips will be pulled and your buy-in refunded (per Rule 16).
What Are the 2025 WSOP Rule Changes?
The 2025 WSOP comes with a series of new and updated rules, many of them aimed at keeping the games clean and fair, especially after the controversy at the 2024 Main Event.
Here’s a breakdown of the key changes you need to know before sitting down to play:
- Rule 16 – Late Start
If you register but don’t show up before the first level ends after the first break, your chips are pulled from play. You’ll get your buy-in refunded, but you’re out of the tournament. - Rule 18 – Freedom to Ban
WSOP has the right to ban any player before, during, or after an event for cheating, disruptive behavior, or if they’ve already been banned from places like GGPoker or other venues. - Rule 63 – No Texting
You can’t text while seated at the table. If tournament staff suspects players are texting at the same table, they can disqualify you right then and there. - Rule 64 – No Solving Tools
Using any sort of real-time solver or software that gives you a playing edge is strictly banned. This includes any device or app that helps make decisions during a hand. - Rule 85 – Button Placement
At the start of a tournament, the button goes to the player with the first chip stack to the dealer’s right. When the event gets down to 3, 2, or 1 tables, there’s a redraw to place the button. Play uses a dead button format. - Rule 86 – No Dodging Blinds
If you move seats and skip the blinds on purpose, you’ll have to forfeit both blinds (and the big blind ante, if there is one) and serve a one-round penalty. - Rule 116 – “Zip It”
No talking about hands, no giving advice, no strategy discussions – even if you’re not in the hand. Verbal help of any kind is off-limits.
Once any event reaches the final three tables, all electronic devices – including phones and tablets – must be removed. This rule comes directly from issues during the 2024 Main Event, where players were accused of getting outside help from railbirds using devices.
These updates are focused on keeping things fair and consistent, and players are expected to know and follow them from the moment they register.
How to Play the $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event
The $10,000 WSOP Main Event begins on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, and runs through Wednesday, July 16.
To be specific, there are four starting flights: Day 1A on July 2, 1B on July 3, 1C on July 4, and 1D on July 5. Players who make it through one of these flights move on to Day 2 beginning July 6, followed by Day 3 through Day 8.
The final table is scheduled for July 15 and 16.
How to Enter the World Series of Poker
There are three main ways to get into the Main Event:
1. Direct Buy-In
First, players can pay the $10,000 entry fee using the WSOP+ app or by registering in person at the Champagne Ballroom at Paris Las Vegas. This is the most straightforward option.
2. Online Qualification
Second, players can win a seat through online satellites.
- GGPoker runs qualifiers for international players starting as low as $1. If someone qualifies through GGPoker and then wins the Main Event, they also receive a $1 million bonus.
- WSOP.com offers online qualifiers for U.S. players located in Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, or Pennsylvania.
3. Live Satellites
Third, there are live satellite tournaments held at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, as well as other Caesars-owned casinos.
These give players the chance to win a seat without paying the full $10,000.
No Re-Entry
Finally, it’s important to know that the Main Event is a freezeout. This means once a player is eliminated, they are out of the tournament and cannot re-enter. Everyone gets one shot, which is part of what makes the Main Event so competitive and well-respected.
Who Won the 2024 Main Event?
The 2024 WSOP Main Event was won by Jonathan Tamayo from the United States. He outlasted a record-breaking field of 10,112 players, the largest in Main Event history, and took home a $10 million first-place prize.
However, Tamayo’s win didn’t come without controversy. There were allegations that his rail team may have used real-time assistance tools during the final stages of the tournament.
As a result, the WSOP introduced a new rule for 2025 that bans all electronic devices once a tournament reaches its final three tables.
Broadcast and Streaming
The 2025 WSOP will be covered through both TV and live streaming.
CBS Sports holds the official broadcast rights again and will feature coverage of final tables, particularly those played on the Thunderdome stage at Horseshoe Las Vegas.
For live, day-to-day coverage, PokerGO is returning as the exclusive streaming partner. They’ll provide a full schedule of streamed events throughout the summer, though the full list of which events will be streamed hasn’t been released yet.
If you’re playing on a featured or televised table, WSOP staff will let you know when your table is being relocated to the production area.
Also, for anyone on camera, keep in mind the apparel rules: logos and branding are allowed, but there are size and quantity limits. For example, logos can’t be larger than 12 square inches on the front or back of a shirt, and no more than three players at a final table can wear apparel from the same sponsor.
Clothing linked to things like cryptocurrency or marijuana may be banned at the organizer’s discretion.
Travel, Age & Documentation
To play in the 2025 WSOP, you must be 21 years or older.
All players are required to show a valid, unexpired photo ID, such as a passport, driver’s license, or government-issued ID. This applies to both U.S. and international players.
International players are welcome, but they must bring the proper travel and identification documents. If you’re flying within the U.S., make sure your ID is REAL ID-compliant, as that requirement is now being enforced for domestic air travel.
For accommodations, the two host hotels are the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas. Both properties are directly connected to the tournament areas.
Caesars has special room rates for WSOP players, which can be booked through the official WSOP website. Booking early is advised, since availability can tighten up as the series gets closer.
WSOP Player of the Year (POY)
The 2025 WSOP Player of the Year race includes all open bracelet events, both live and online, as long as they’re part of the official schedule in Las Vegas or on WSOP.com in Nevada and New Jersey.
That means any player competing in standard events is automatically earning POY points.
However, some events do not count toward the leaderboard. These are the Casino Employees, Ladies, Seniors, Super Seniors, and Tag Team tournaments.
At the end of the series, the player with the most points will receive a seat in the 2026 WSOP Main Event, a custom trophy, and a banner displayed at the WSOP venue for the following year.
Past WSOP Champions
The World Series of Poker Main Event has crowned champions every year since 1970, and its winners’ list includes some of the most well-known names in poker history.
In 2024, Jonathan Tamayo won the Main Event, beating a record-setting field of 10,112 players to take home $10 million. The year before, Daniel Weinman won in 2023, earning $12.1 million, the largest first-place prize in WSOP history at that time.
Going back further, past champions include Espen Jorstad (2022), Koray Aldemir (2021), and Damian Salas (2020).
Earlier standout winners include Martin Jacobson (2014), Joe McKeehen (2015), and Chris Moneymaker (2003) – the player widely credited with sparking the poker boom after winning as an amateur.
A few players have won the Main Event multiple times. Johnny Moss and Stu Ungar each won it three times, while Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan have two titles each.
