Illegal Online Casinos in Michigan Ordered to Cease Operations

Michigan regulators have issued cease-and-desist letters to eight illegal online casinos – all of which have been accused of targeting residents without proper state authorization. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) announced the action as part of its ongoing effort to remove illegal gambling platforms from the state.
State Enforcement Targets Eight Unlicensed Operators
The eight platforms identified by the MGCB are: Bspin Casino, Everygame Casino, Everygame Sports Casino, Kudos Casino, PlayCroco Online Casino, Slots of Vegas, Spin Dimension, and Super Slots.
According to the board, each of these sites was found offering casino-style games or sports betting in violation of Michigan law. None held the licenses required under the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, or applicable provisions of the Michigan Penal Code.
“These unlawful operators try to present themselves as legitimate entertainment options, but they offer zero player protections, no accountability, and a real risk to consumers,” said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams.
Consumer Protections Absent on Illegal Sites
Unlike licensed platforms in Michigan, unregulated gambling sites do not comply with independent testing, responsible gaming standards, or consumer safety requirements. Players who use these sites have no formal recourse in cases of fraud or unresolved disputes.
“These sites try to attract players with flashy ads and promises of big wins, but the reality is far riskier: no oversight, no consumer protections, and no guarantee you’ll ever see your money again,” Williams said.
“Illegal operators often copy familiar names or logos to trick people,” Williams added. “We want Michiganders to know how to protect themselves and where to find legitimate, safe entertainment”.
Previous Crackdowns Set the Tone for 2025
The action is one of several taken by the MGCB in 2025. Earlier in the year, the agency shut down 19 illegal gambling sites in July and sent cease-and-desist letters to 15 more in August. Four offshore operators were also targeted in September.
“Michigan law is clear—if you want to operate here, you must be licensed,” said Williams. “We will continue to hold illegal operators accountable and protect Michigan residents from predatory, unregulated gambling”.
Education and Reporting Tools for Residents
Alongside enforcement, the MGCB continues to educate the public through its Play It Smart, Michigan campaign. The initiative helps residents distinguish legal gambling sites from fraudulent ones and offers a full list of licensed online casinos and sportsbooks on Michigan.gov/MGCB.
“Fake ads can look convincing—sometimes even using familiar logos or names—but they can be nothing more than a gateway to offshore sites that put players at risk,” Williams said.
Suspicious gambling activity can be reported by calling 1-888-314-2682 or emailing [email protected]. The MGCB also connects players to resources for problem gambling support, including the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline.
