Daniel Negreanu Joins Kalshi, Announces Major WSOP Paradise Giveaway

Daniel Negreanu, one of poker’s most familiar faces, is making his debut in the world of prediction markets through a new partnership with Kalshi. The eight-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner is teaming up with the CFTC-regulated exchange, which allows users to trade contracts based on real-world outcomes – from sports and politics to the latest in pop culture.

Kalshi’s Real-World Prediction Markets

Kalshi, in essence, is a marketplace for opinions – except the stakes are real money. The platform, regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), lets anyone in the U.S. – including major states like California and Texas, where sports betting is still blocked – buy and sell simple yes-or-no event contracts. If you’re right, the contract pays a dollar. If not, it pays nothing. The questions range from “Will a certain candidate win the nomination?” to “Will an economic indicator hit a specific target?”

Kalshi says it has handled over $2 billion in trades from more than a million users – you can trade on the platform via web, mobile app, Robinhood, or Webull. Users can buy in and out before and during each event, and there are no limits on winnings.

What About Poker on Kalshi?

So far, there’s no way to bet on poker tournaments or series through Kalshi, though that could easily change with DNegs now backing the platform. Industry talk is already circulating about the potential for markets tied to tournament guarantees, field sizes, or who will be the next Player of the Year. Negreanu’s connection to GGPoker, the biggest online poker site in the world, makes him a logical bridge if Kalshi decides to add cards in the future.

Legal Spotlight on Prediction Markets

Given the state of the online gambling industry in America, Kalshi’s expansion, naturally, hasn’t been smooth everywhere. States like Nevada, New Jersey, Maryland, and Massachusetts have all challenged the company’s right to operate, arguing that event contracts amount to sports betting. Kalshi has successfully defended its model in federal court in Nevada and New Jersey.

In Maryland, however, the company is appealing a ruling against it and is still operating while the process plays out. Massachusetts joined the legal fight this fall.

On the federal level, the CFTC oversees Kalshi’s markets as financial derivatives, and the SEC can step in when contracts cross into investment territory.

Big Giveaway: WSOP Paradise Trip Up for Grabs

To launch the partnership, Kalshi and Negreanu are running a $30,000 giveaway aimed at new users. Anyone who signs up using the promo code “DNEGS” and places $100 worth of trades gets a $40 bonus and a chance to win a WSOP Paradise prize package. The winner will receive a $26,000 seat in the Super Main Event, nine nights at the Atlantis Royal in December, access to the player lounge, GGPoker Paradise merch, and bubble protection.
