Day 3 of the WSOP High Roller Starts with 15 Players

Fifteen players came back for Day 3, each guaranteed at least $87,000. David Peters was the first to be knocked out, followed by Galen Hall and Kristen Foxen. After the field was down to two tables, Michael Macchia and Barak Wisbrod were eliminated. Then came the big hand between Fabian Gumz and Chris Moorman – a five-bet pot that helped Moorman take the chip lead. Gumz was eliminated in that hand.

Mustapha Kanit had been short-stacked for most of the day. He was finally out when his pair of sixes lost to Moorman’s queens. Daniel Sepiol was next. He had pocket kings but was out-flopped by Moorman’s pocket tens, ending his run.

After a 30-minute break, players returned for the official final table.

Final Table Action

In one of the first hands at the feature table, Aram Oganyan and Blaz Zerjav got all their chips in before the flop. Oganyan had A♠ K♦, and Zerjav had pocket queens. The flop gave Zerjav four queens, and Oganyan was drawing dead. He was later eliminated in sixth place and earned $257,201.

Next to go was Paulius Vaitiekunas of Lithuania. He had a large stack to start the final table but lost a big hand to Jared Bleznick, who hit the nut straight on the river. Vaitiekunas then lost another hand to Moorman, who flopped two pair. Vaitiekunas finished fifth and took home $358,973.

After that, Landon Tice and Jared Bleznick both picked up strong aces, but Tice was dominated. Bleznick completed a flush to win the hand. Tice was eliminated in fourth place and earned $513,577.

Jared Bleznick, a 2024 WSOP bracelet winner and Pot Limit Omaha specialist, was out next. He three-bet with pocket kings, and Moorman turned the nut straight. All the chips went in on the turn, and Bleznick had no outs. He finished in third place for $752,737.

Heads-Up Match Against Moorman

Chris Moorman began heads-up play with nearly a 4-to-1 chip lead over Blaz Zerjav. On the very first hand, both players had pocket pairs. Zerjav had the better hand and doubled up.

In a few hands, another big pot developed. Moorman had pocket nines, and Zerjav had A♠ Q♠. An ace hit the flop, giving Zerjav the lead and a large chip advantage.

Moorman kept playing and tried to come back, but he couldn’t regain the lead. The final hand came when Moorman had A♣ J♥ and moved all in. Zerjav had A♠ K♣ and called. The board did not help Moorman, and the tournament was over.

Zerjav won $1,734,717 and his first gold bracelet. Moorman took second place and earned $1,129,608. It was his fifth career cash of over $1 million.
