Poker Dream 21 Puts Asia’s Thriving Live Scene on Full Display With MYR 5M Malaysia Festival

Poker Dream has released the full schedule for Poker Dream 21 Malaysia, running April 9-20, 2026, at Resorts World Genting Highlands.

The headliner is a MYR 5,000,000 (~$1.25 million) guaranteed Main Event — and the series is expanding its dedicated ladies’ program to seven events, up from five at each of the previous two editions.

Asia’s Live Poker Scene is Taking Shape

For players whose frame of reference is the European Poker Tour (EPT) or the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the scale of live poker in Asia might come as a genuine surprise.

The Triton Poker Series generated a $148.7 million festival prize pool at its 2025 Jeju editions, with its $100,000 Main Event drawing 285 entries — a remarkable figure for a six-figure buy-in event.

When Triton launched its more accessible sibling series, Triton ONE, in September 2025, the inaugural event drew over 1,000 entries and produced a $7.6 million prize pool, immediately establishing it as one of the year’s most significant new live events.

The Asian Poker Tour (APT), now in its 20th year, drew 83,554 total entries across five festivals in 2025. The inaugural APT Championship in Taipei produced a $10,300 freezeout with a $6.2 million prize pool — the largest $10,000-entry freezeout held outside Las Vegas in the past decade.

Poker Dream fits squarely within this landscape. Founded in 2022 by Winfred Yu — who previously helped build both Triton Poker and Poker King Club — the series was built around a “by players, for players” philosophy, emphasizing deep structures, player-friendly levels, and a shot clock in the late stages of major events.

The Malaysia event in April consistently draws the brand’s largest fields; Poker Dream 17 in April 2025 attracted nearly 11,000 total entries and paid out $5.41 million across the festival.

The momentum has continued year-round. Poker Dream 20, held at the same venue in January 2026, ran 70 individual events and drew 9,015 total entries.

All of it takes place at Resorts World Genting, the only licensed land-based casino in Malaysia, set in the highlands of Pahang about an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur.

Poker Dream 21’s Main Event runs multiple Day 1 flights between April 15–18, including standard, turbo, and hyper-turbo options. Buy-in tiers of MYR 3,200 and MYR 4,800 offer different starting stack depths and the same guarantee.

There are three capped freerolls built into the schedule, feeding the Mystery Bounty, Main Event, and Monster Stack, respectively, alongside a full slate of Milestone Satellites running throughout the festival. Buy-in packages are available from as little as MYR 160 (roughly $42).

The Short Deck Ante Only event at MYR 10,000 is a format that has become a signature of the Asian circuit, having a stronger toehold here than at Western events. The Teams Event, in which two players share a single stack, is a recurring fan favorite at Genting, while a Player’s Party rounds out the festival at Genting Rouge on April 19.

All Queens: A Dedicated Ladies’ Poker Program

Announced today on Poker Dream’s official social media channels under the “All Queens” banner, Poker Dream 21 will feature seven dedicated ladies-only events — up from five at both Poker Dream 19 and Poker Dream 20, and now given its own dedicated branding and promotional campaign for the first time.

Two of the seven events are freerolls, meaning female players can participate in dedicated tournament action at no cost. The MYR 800 (~$210) turbo buy-ins sit well below the Main Event entry threshold.

Most international tours offer a single ladies’ event per festival, if any. Seven events spread across multiple days — each carrying its own dedicated ladies’ trophy — represent a meaningfully different level of commitment, and one that Poker Dream appears to be doubling down on with each successive edition.

Poker Dream expanded its Player of the Year program in January 2026 to include ladies’ and regional award categories, suggesting the growth of the ladies’ program at Poker Dream 21 is part of a sustained push rather than a cosmetic change.

Poker Dream 21 and the Continuing Mainstreaming of Asian Live Poker

The Poker Dream 21 schedule covers an unusually wide range of player profiles.

At the accessible end, the Mini Main Event at MYR 1,500 (~$393) carries a MYR 200,000 guarantee. Freeroll satellites give recreational players who utilize a sound MTT strategy a realistic path into bigger events. At the other extreme, the Super High Roller at MYR 20,000 (~$5,245) sits within the range of what serious tournament players budget for marquee international stops.

Poker Dream’s Malaysian events have historically drawn a blend of local recreational players, regional regulars from Malaysia, Singapore, China, and India, and a growing international contingent. That mix has tended to produce fields that are competitive while still being more accessible than equivalently-sized events in Europe or the United States.

The venue adds a further dimension. Resorts World Genting is a fully integrated resort at 1,800 metres elevation, with hotels, restaurants, and entertainment on-site. It increasingly positions the April stop as a viable alternative to events like EPT Barcelona or the WSOP Circuit for players weighing up their international schedule.

Poker Dream 21 Arrives as Asia’s Live Circuit Hits Its Stride

Poker Dream 21 is the first of four confirmed stops in 2026. Poker Dream 23 returns to Genting in August, Poker Dream 24 follows in Malaysia in October, and Poker Dream 25 heads to Jeju, South Korea, in November.

That pace places Poker Dream alongside the APT and PokerStars’ Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) as one of the most active touring brands in the region.

The launch of a structured ladies’ program — announced weeks after Triton Poker introduced its $200,000 Ivan Leow Player of the Year guarantee and a new Player ONE race — reflects a broader sense of ambition across the Asian circuit. The region’s tours appear to be competing not just on prize pool size, but on the depth and breadth of the experience they offer.
