    Question Training Ideas

I'm about 75-100 miles from a brick & mortar casino. I've been reading books on Texas Hold'em as well. Some of them I go back and read again. I haven't been in a casino in almost 20 years!

I'm also trying to play at least 500 hands a day after work on the computer. The site I'm on gives a lot of stats and a weekly report as well as allowing you to review hands you have played.

I'm working my way through the pokerology study guide as time permits. It seems very informative. I try to read the lessons and then watch the video for the lessons before taking the quiz.

I think I would like to find a mentor near me to help me learn more at some point. I'll be completely retired in 6 months so I'll have more time to indulge my hobby.

Anyway-any thoughts on this plan so far? Any suggestions??

    Thanks for any advice.

Books, videos, training sites, discussion forums, a mentor, playing 500 hands a day: seems like a thorough plan to me!

I don't know if the site you play on is for money or for free, but I would definitely advise to play for real money on a site such as Bovada (if you live in the US, Pokerstars otherwise). You honestly can't get any good at this game until the stakes are for real, even if you play at the micro limits it's better than "play" money. I would also try to get to that casino at least once a month and get that live experience as well. Maybe try looking for a local bar weekly bar game (where you usually play for free, but get extra chips if you buy a cheeseburger or whatever). There are usually prizes of some sort to play for so it's not quite as bad as the internet "play money". Keep it up and post specific hand questions here for discussion. Good luck!
