    Default Teeth Grind Fold

0,10/0,05$ NL Hold'em, no info on the villain.

I was sitting on Ah Ac on UTG+1, UTG raises $0.40, I make it $0.80, everyone else folds, UTG calls.
    Flop: Qh, 9h, 7s
UTG bets $0.20, I raise $1.30, villain calls.
    Turn: 4d
    UTG bets $0.20, I call.
    River: 5d
    UTG bets $4.52, I fold.

Did I bet reasonably? Was it a good idea to slow down at the turn? What does the UTGs play indicate? Did I see monsters under the bed putting him on QQ here? Was it a good fold?

I'd say so, up until the turn.

I don't think so. It looks like he wanted a cheap river (flush draw perhaps?) and you obliged. Make him pay to get there.

His river bet suggests a busted draw rather than a set.

Yes, I think so. Upon reviewing the hand do you think he had QQ?

Maybe I was overanalyzing this due to lack of knowledge of villain's playing style. I was surprised by the small flop bet and thought, maybe he has hit trips and wants to simulate weakness and induce a re-raise. The call and him making the same move again seemed to suggest the same thing. The river bet of course could mean weakness, simulation of weakness or taking a chance. Maybe it simply means I shouldn't have just called the turn either way, this gave me no additional information. Because of that I can't really rule out he had QQ.

I say raise more preflop, but I doubt that changes much. I'd say it would be very unlikely he had a set (until the river maybe, even then why is he still in the hand?). As Tim said, he was more likely on a draw. 86? I guess, though he did go 4x preflop UTG. No range on him here? Hmm... a set would usually check/call until the turn, not lead out and risk losing his customer. Like Tim, I'd have tested him again with a raise, maybe as much as $2 (depends on the pot size). Busted draw seems most likely, give him credit for sensing weakness from you.

On the other hand, you do only have one pair. If you truly have no reads and get a sense of the worst, folding isn't horrible.

Then again, I don't play poker.

    1. You should have made it 3 times his opening bet preflop.
    2. If he had flopped a set, he wouldn't have bet into you on the flop. You already reraised him preflop. He knows you're going to bet. He would be going for a check raise.
    3. Reraise him on the turn. Possibly all in.
    4. I say he had AQ. I never fold here. If he has it, he has it.

I have. I stopped playing. Really. I honestly don't have the time or the place to play safely.

I know. But "I've had to quit playing" or even "I've stopped playing" carries a different connotation than "I don't play poker ". Trust me, I understand the frustration. Go easy on yourself.

Who said I was frustrated? At one time I was... when I was unemployed after moving. Now, I really don't miss it. Therefore, I don't play anymore.

Would I play if it "came back"? I truly don't know.

    Sorry, I missed this.
So who are you, and what have you done with Rycky Rych?

I'm confused. So what was the point of all that time with Jennifear? What was the point of accumulating so much insight and knowledge? Certainly that was valuable time invested.
So it was just a pastime, easily forgotten? Wow. I'd hate to compete against you in anything you might be passionate about.
