    Default World Champion

Well I watched a lot of the live coverage of the Main Event Final Table and Greg Merson is definitely a worthy winner - he made a lot of great decisions.

The overall standard of play was excellent too (apart from the surreal last hand!)

I may have to keep my ESPN subscription for another year...

I didn't know it was now the 'October Nine' and I'd never heard of Greg Merson before reading your post and doing a quick search.

Please put a spoiler alert next time!

Moved up to October so as not to interfere with the US presidential elections in the first week of November.

I stayed up several hours late, but I didn't have the resolve or energy to 'live blog' it as I did last year.

A great three way battle that lasted all night long.

Any one of them would have been a deserving champion; congratulations to Merson who claims only to have read one poker book, and was the only one of the three not to have hired a high-profile personal coach in the ensuing three months.

Merson took POY from Phil Hellmuth as well with the win.

I did think about not posting, but I figured anyone remotely interested in poker would know it was happening and if they didn't want to know the result wouldn't go to a poker forum the next day ;-)

Who would have thunk that someone who runs a poker forum would be so in the dark?
To the true gambler, money is never an end in itself, but simply a tool; as language is to thought.

    I know. It's a bit embarrassing isn't it.

I've been busy. That's my excuse.
