    Default Curious About A Spot

Okay, so we're in a $100 satellite for a $1600 main event entry, Hollywood Fall Poker Classic at Hollywood casino just outside Cincinnati. Ten players get a ticket. We started with 127 players, now down to 58. It's a 4000 chip turbo, blinds go up every 15 minutes.

We've been playing good, solid, aggressive poker. We haven't seen anything worthwhile for a few orbits, and the next thing you know, the blinds swipe us again and now we have $4700 as the blinds go up to 400/800 with 100 antes.

We see on the button, two lmpers call, then to the CO, who makes it $1800 to go. He has us slightly covered.

No one strikes us as extremely tricky.

    What's our move?

In a word ... FOLD ... but I bet you didn't. Too much gamble in the Q-man!
To the true gambler, money is never an end in itself, but simply a tool; as language is to thought.

No reads on the limpers. We haven't seen them get out of line.

Unfortunately it's a fold from me. It's a tough spot because you really need to get some chips, but the CO has screwed it up. Did he always raise 2.25x (and regardless of limpers)?

TBH I don't have live tourney experience, but with a move like that the CO is probably trying to play position and planning to jam post-flop if he gets any callers. I think to do it first and go all-in with ATs preflop wouldn't be a very bad idea here as from what I understood we would be threatening the CO to a high degree. However you didn't mention the limpers' stack sizes/tendencies so I'm not too sure.

    +1

I agree, the raise from the CO ruins this for you.

I just thought it was strange that the CO didn't shove. The raise size seemed so weird to me. I don't know, I felt he was weak and thought the limpers would probably fold if I shoved. I also felt I had a decent hand which had a good chance to stand up. One of the limpers called me with AQo, everyone else folded, including the CO.

I just felt it was a good time to pick up a lot of chips if I could prevail. No help came, and I busted out. Do you guys think I should have waited? I only had about 6 bb's left, maybe one more orbit. It seemed like my best shot. Too impatient?

I'm surprised the CO folded. You said "he had me slightly covered" so I presume he had 10bb or less at the start of the hand. Yet he find himself able to raise / fold. Weird indeed.

The CO would put me off shoving with AT, but the limpers add to the problem. I know you were short and didn't have the luxury of time on your side, but yes, I think you should have folded. Although if you thought the CO was capable of folding, which you did, then I understand why you shoved. I just assumed he would be calling.

Doesn't matter, the CO beat you to it. However, seeing that he then folded the guy seems to be an idiot.
