Default Probabilities & Paradoxes Beyond Poker

Just wanted to say great article, that's why it's worth coming to this site, you can not only learn something about poker, but about life - although I already knew about the birthday paradox.

Thanks, nobetter ... glad you enjoyed it.
To the true gambler, money is never an end in itself, but simply a tool; as language is to thought.

    Default Testing the theory

When the football season starts (I mean football in the UK, or in Germany for nobetter) try this:

At the start of a game there are 23 people on the pitch: 2 teams of 11 plus the referee.

Find everyone's birthday - Wikipedia is your friend

You should find that on any given Saturday, half of the games will start with at least two people on the pitch sharing a birthday.

Obviously this will be more statistically accurate the more games you try it with, but I'm guessing it will get very tedious indeed very quickly.
There are only three ways to play pocket Jacks; they are all wrong.

Please don't tell me you've actually gone to the trouble of doing this!?!?
