    Default Commitment

Ok I remember a post where someone said something about at 10% of his stack he was commited? Who was it and what did he say exactly?

    Oh that would be me.

The story roughly went a guy at the cardroom was saying he had too call a bet due to being pot committed (even though he actually wasn't). Through further conversation he was having with myself and others, we figured out he considered 15% to 25% being pot committed.

Well he might have gotten that from Ed Millers Professional No- Limit Holdem.
It says somewhere that before you put in 10% of your stack you should have a plan and be commited. I will find it and quote it shortly. Have you ever read it?

No, I haven't read it. I don't read alot of books on poker. I don't learn well that way.

Not sure if its the quote or the theory I'm familiar with.

I've read it. It got me started on the path away from fishland nearly two years ago. It contains some good general concepts for cash game play, especially Stack to Pot Ratio.

I haven't read it for a while but I don't think it advises that with 10% of your stack in the pot you are committed to put the rest it. I think it is more along the lines of having a plan and being committed to that.

Yeah I have had it for quite sometime but have only started to read it recently. I read about half of it a few years ago and just didn't like the SPR(stack to pot ratio) thinking so I never finished it. My thinking at that time was Just because I have a great hand doesn't always mean I want to get all in. My thinking has done a lot of changing over the years(luckily!). I loved No Limit Holdem Theory and Practice. That's what made me get Professional No Limit Holdem. That too is an AWESOME book. But after watching a bunch of ed millers videos I now understand the thinking and am currently reading it fully. I will find that passage and post it. I may have understood but I remember thinking about it because of the thread Mal started.
