Default Carbon Poker Jackpot Table Talk

If you saw the latest news piece you'll know that the bad beat jackpot on Carbon Poker / The Merge network was paid out. I got this from a source, which is the table talk from those at the table. Remember all players at the table won a piece of the action, but you had to be sat in. How gutted would you be if you weren't sat down in time, as is the case for Pokerbunny69?!?

    Default Jackpots

This may just be confirmation bias on my part but has the group ever noticed that big jackpots or promotion awards (on Stars they are currently doing the 25 billion countdown with $$$$ awards) go to small stakes games? Maybe that's because there are more of them at any given time but I find it curious.

It does, to me, kind of validate that they are not rigged because shipping a kilo of money to someone who is playing for peanuts might mean that most of it would be taken out of the 'Poker Economy' versus being reinvested into higher stakes games.

It sure would be nice to hit one of those! Once I got a table share playing live at the Hustler Casino in Los Angeles for about $2,000 but that was a long time ago. I need a re-load...lol

I think it's about the numbers and the fact that the majority of the jackpot is generated from the lower stakes games. I say fact without any evidence, but I would guess this to be true. Some of the high rollers bet the jackpot amount on the turn of a card!

I just feel sorry for the guy who was sat out of the game at the time. This is why I tend to avoid jackpot tables. I'd be absolutely gutted if I took a break at the wrong time. Now that is something to put you on tilt!

    Default Jackpots

I had something similar happen to me back when Paradise Poker still accepted USA players. They had some kind of promotion which I forget but the deal was you needed to have a Margarita on your table (they used to have this silly snack, drink, smoke thing that you could have on the table next to you) in order to qualify. As I remember and it was quite some time ago, each player at my table received $200 and the only jerk who didn't have a margarita on his table was me. I got 0 and no sympathy at all. In fact the rest of the table jumped me like a pack of hyenas razzing my ass for missing out. I was upset but hell for $200 it wasn't the end of the world.
