My local casino ran a freeroll last Sunday for 3 Main Event Seats.
I was the first one knocked out.
Okay, so here was the hand.
I had![]()
on the button. Blinds $50/$100/ effective stacks of $10,000. I called a $150 pre-flop raise along with two other players (four total seeing the flop).
Flop:![]()
![]()
.
The OR bets $500 into a $600+ pot. I raise him to $1000, he calls.
Turn is a brick; the OR bets $1000, I raise to $3000, he calls.
River's another diamond. The board isn't paired. He checks. I figure him for a lower flush or a flopped set. I should have just checked behind, but his river check made me think he was afraid to bet. Why would he be afraid to bet? Because he didn't have the nuts. So I shoved. He had![]()
.
Of course, with only a ten-high flush (if he indeed had the), he wouldn't have called a river shove anyway. So there was no value there for me to bet. I would've still had half my stack.
I would definitely have called if he had shoved on me. I asked him later; even if I had shoved the flop, he wouldn't have folded. So I was doomed no matter what.
Comments welcome.
