Default 4.5 BBs, OTB w/TT, Against a Bet and a Shove

$100 tournament, Hollywood Casino just outside Cincinnati.

31 left from a starting field of 165, 18 get paid, blinds $1500/3000, I have $13,500 left with TT on the button, UTG min bets to $6000, UTG +1 shoves with $14,000... I can't fold here, right?

It's damned if you do and damned if you don't, IMO. Calling all-in might get UTG to fold and they might be holding eachother's outs, so: not loving it much, but I don't think you can fold either.

Right. Gotta take a stand sometime when that short. UTG+1 is in a similar boat, he needs to take a stand also so he could be fairly light as well.

Who knows, UTG might be bad enough to fold. Any reads? If UTG+1 was tight/scared I can see folding.
I'm not questioning your honor, I'm denying its existence.

UTG was never going to fold. +1 was new to the table and I had no reads on him at all.

I think you have to get it in. Just hope UTG is stealing with something like 89s and UTG+1 has a pair worse than 10's. Wishful thinking maybe, but it's possible. It's more likely you'll need help, but I don't see how you can fold.

It depends on the stacks utg+1 is shoving with, and if utg can call, many players like to min raise premium hands at late stages... so suspect. If utg+1 is short stack, you got him imo, utg prolly has u though, unless he big stack, then he may just be throwing weight around, and youd have50% to triple up

I purposely didn't include his stack size because I don't think it matters at all. If he had a short stack, and was min raising with a monster, he's getting it in of course. If he had a short stack and foolishly risked too much of his stack on an under the gun steal attempt, well, he now has to call because of odds. If he has a large stack, he's never folding regardless of his hand.

Yes, in theory, his stack size could say something about the type of hand he might have, but again, what does it matter to me? I only have 4.5 BB's left with pocket tens in the hole. I could easily have had the same result (facing two other players for the pot) if I had been the first to act and shoved. Simple fact is, I could more than triple up in this hand, and opportunities to do that are extremely limited at the moment. I can't turn down the chance.

Not to mention, I could easily still lose the hand even if I have only one caller. Any way you look at it, it's a chance I have to take. I have no choice. I would be a terrible player if I fold here. Especially if I fold because I start making mental calculations as to what kind of hand UTG could have. It just doesn't matter.

I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

As it turns out, UTG had JJ, UTG+1 had AK, and the jacks held up. Oh well. It would have been nice to win that hand, have a good chance to make the cash. First place was 2800 something dollars.

Was it a lonely and boring 2 1/2 hour drive home after working so hard, coming so close, and yet coming up empty?

    Yes.

I don't believe this story. JJ never wins.

I think if UTG was big stack, I wouldn't give him much credit since he's probably stealing with 2 small stacks on the blinds. With a short stack he might have a monster (aa kk)hoping he can get someone to commit. I agree it would be near impossible to fold in this situation though unless you could positively put UTG on a pp higher than yours.
