Should I have shoved preflop?

I thought about leading off the flop. The fellow that shoved, had just shoved AA to get hit on the river by KQ 2 hands earlier. He has also been very aggressive with his bets in position. I figured I would give him a chance to try to get a little tricky on me.

1. raise/shove flop,
2. shove preflop,
3. call behind,
4. fold.

So if the limper before me had raised you would shove?

Well a little checking reveals we can shove JJ+ AQs+ here. AQo is a little light but not far off.

Did you happen to see what the calling hands behind us would be like? If they are all like QQ+/AKs I think we can shove a little wider (like AQo) because too many guys will call with JJ-/AQ- themselves... hands we flip against or beat.

By QQ+ you mean QQ, KK, AK, & AA?

I would say QQ+/AK if I meant AKs and AKo as well.

I'm not going by a "hand ranking" per se. Its just the way I'll type the ranges of hands.

If you were to shove AKo in that spot I'm pretty sure I couldn't really argue against it. In fact, shoving AK is probably the best way to play it since AK plays best when seeing all 5 cards of the flop (or none at all!).

AJ I could see being a fold. I think AQ is way too strong to lay down. There`s already 125 in the pot, that`s over 12% of our current stack, well worth taking down.

Well, as usual, it's my cash game mentality here... I am so tired of being in this spot at the casino, and getting beat. I have to constantly adjust myself down there because of the actual (although admittedly short term) results I get... and then I have to constantly re-adjust myself to internet tournaments.
