Since this is the first hand I have posted here I thought I would start with a doozy. I like to consider this either my best lay down or more likely the worst ever. Before you string me up, keep in mind this is Rush poker game and if you have not played rush poker sets are darn near the minimum hand shown down. For whatever reason my spidey sense screamed Set Q. Of course no reads on anyone its rush poker after all.
So the first thing is the limp preflop, I have found at rush tables, if you raise preflop most of the time everyone folds, but if you limp from EP/MP someone is going to thee bet giving you an opportunity to get in an additional 4 bet and build a nice pot. After that I failed to think. |

Interesting laydown but it could be the correct one. I was questioning your EP limp but as you described it you were expecting a raise and got it plus a 3bet which worked out in your favor then. I probably would have made a bigger 4bet but your reraise still accomplished one important goal; you got heads-up with the 3bettor.
On the flop you represented that you had a big hand and he responded with a huge over-shove of 62 BBs. You were only getting 1.4:1 on your money which meant you had to be right a high percentage of the time. But what is he shoving so much money with check/raising you? I don't think it's QQ 'cause he'd want to keep you in the pot most likely. The most likely hand I can think of is AK of diamonds in which case you're only a slight favorite. In this spot it's a very risky gamble if you think the Ks are ahead 'cause there are very few, if any, hands you're a big favorite against. So I say this was a good and disciplined laydown. EDIT: Yikes I see now you had the so now what can I put him on? Now I see ![]() is a very real possibility which again makes it a pretty risky call.

Welcome to the forum Chris.
Interesting laydown. I agree with Bob about the limp and raising more with your 4 bet. I think I'd call with KK as you're beating a lot of hands against some random player. |

I agree with silentbobs read. I think the guy most likely had AQd and was thinking he had a great hand. (at least 14 outs by his figuring but realy only 13) I think you did wise to lay down due to the high number of outs.

I`d agree with Tim here. Some of these Rush players are just awesomely bad. Here`s a hand I posted earlier this week. http://www.pokerology.com/forums/pok...cash-hand.html

Another couple of examples of bad players in the Rush games.

If you are going to limp in to encourage action... take the action! If that was your plan the whole time then you have to stick with the plan.
If you limp and play all these min-raises because you have ace-on-the-flop-itis (like some players do) then you need to get over it. KK is just too strong to be playing like a suited connector. Ideally I'd like to get all the chips in preflop here since with KK I'd love my chances. That way you don't have extra chances to screw up. As played you have to call. You got what you wanted (an overpair to the board) and if this guy really had a set I'd think he'd be more apt to call. You also have a little extra protection from holding the Kd here (though that might not be much help). Sure, he might have feared a potential flush and protected his hand but if you are going to play KK like this so you can get action, take the action when you get it.

I'v not played enough of Rush Poker to know the optimum strategy. By it's nature, it should make fish rock up a bit more - since they can use the quick fold feature. That was one of the downsides to it's existence, in that it made it easier for the fish to fold and play stronger holdings. I'm not so sure if this is the case, from what some of you have said. Although maybe it's just there's a lot more fish out there than we knew!

I can see, this being rush poker where people dump it immediately unless it's premium-- your being worried. If that was the case, I would probably stay away from Rush poker entirely because it would screw up the way I think about the game. Because I don't think I'm ever laying KK down unless I see an A on the flop, and there's significant betting.
