    Question Poker Vids

    Hi guys,

    I need some help here.

I am going to start recording my online poker playing and I want a mic to record myself speaking.

The idea being is that I can review my thought process and see what I am doing wrong (I am making my return to poker after a few years out).

Whats the best poker recording software, do I need a seperate bit of software for the voice?

    Thanks for any help.

In return, I am happy to post the vids on this site so you can all laugh at me

    Gary

I've been toying with this idea myself and have indeed encountered the of the problem of recording one's voice along with the sounds of the poker client. I see 3 possible routes.

    1) enabling your mic in the software mixer (so it's audible in your speakers) and record "What you hear", whilst playing without sound yourself (otherwise you'll hear yourself talking with a slight delay, which is helluva annoying).

    2) recoding your voice on a seperate computer and mixing in this track during the editing phase. This requires a commercial grade video-editing package and can lead to sync issues.

    3) splicing your speaker output and connect it to a hardware audio mixer, mix in your mic, and record the output of the audio mixer through you PC's mic input (would need to turn off "mic boost" in your mic's avanced properties if enabled).

As for screenrecording software, I think Camtasia or BSR Screenrecorder are the best commercial offerings, while Camstudio is the most widely used freeware option.

Good luck and looking forward to the results.

Camtasia Studio is the most widely used screen capture software (also records sound, so there's no need for an elaborate setup) that will fit your needs. It's buggy and drives me nuts sometimes, but it does the basic job.

    Good luck.

You can add commentary in post-production, but live as well?

Camtasia works for me. I've done a few myself.
I'm not questioning your honor, I'm denying its existence.
